Your Top Questions Answered

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is support for the part of you that knows you’re capable of more but isn’t sure how to get there. Together, we choose meaningful goals, uncover what’s been getting in the way, and create simple habits and routines that work for your life. It’s a guided process that helps you feel clearer, more grounded, and confident in your next steps.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?

Think of your life as a garden. Therapy is like tending to the roots—digging into the soil to uncover deep challenges, healing old wounds, and making sure the foundation is healthy. Coaching, on the other hand, is like caring for the plant above the soil—nurturing growth, pruning what’s in the way, planting new seeds, and creating the right conditions for your goals and dreams to flourish.

In short: therapy helps you understand why your garden has struggled; coaching helps you grow the life you want from where you are today.

Are you a certified coach?

Yes, I am certified through the Health Coach Institute, whose training program is recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Why might I choose life coaching?

Life Coaching may be worthwhile to try if you enjoy not only talking about your challenges, but also working on “actionable” steps to get you where you want to go. In some ways, coaching is like “physiotherapy for your mental health” or “healing through the backdoor.” By weekly working on goals and habits that move you forward, you begin to see that, actually, you “can”—which in turn increases self-confidence, mood and joy.

Why is coaching so “positive”?

People often seek help because they’re asking, “What is wrong with me?” But coaching focuses on what is “right” with you. The very nature of coaching is trusting in someone’s potential. Coaches hold a “future version” of their clients in their mind. They already believe in your future results.

Why is the coaching experience 8 -10 weeks long?

The main reason for an 8-10 week coaching experience is that it takes a while for new habits to take root. Eight to ten weeks allows you to develop self-awareness, practice strategies, recoup from self-sabotage, and have time for self-trust to take place. Consistency, repetition, and a deliberate effort to practice the behaviour are key factors in successfully forming a new habit. Some clients may need a little more time, others a little less, so we decide together what works best for you.

When would life coaching not be for me?

If you are still processing any deep psychological or emotional challenges that are debilitating, then coaching may not be the right fit for you right now. If at any point a Life Coach feels your challenges warrant a therapist or counsellor, she would suggest we add one to the “team” of people who can support you. In no way, do we suggest that life coaching replace your family doctor or therapist.

What kind of people do you work with?

I tend to work with women who are curious, teachable, open-minded, willing to try, and most importantly: ready to change their status quo.

Why should I book a Discovery Call?

The Discovery Call is a relaxed, hands-on way to experience coaching before committing to the 8–10 week Journey. It’s our opportunity to connect, explore what matters most to you, and identify where you may be feeling stuck. Most people leave with new insight, greater clarity, and at least one practical next step they can take right away—along with a clear sense of whether coaching feels like the right fit.

Is life coaching covered by insurance/ benefits?

Life Coaching is not typically covered by standard insurance or extended health benefits. Some clients may be able to use health spending accounts or wellness allowances, depending on their plan. Clients are encouraged to check directly with their benefits provider for details. In either case, believe you are worth the investment!

How “ready” must I be to start coaching?

To benefit fully from coaching, it's helpful to have an open mindset, a willingness to explore new perspectives, and a commitment to taking action towards your goals. On a scale of 1-10, you should be at a 7 of “readiness” to put in the effort and do the action steps needed to accomplish your goal(s).
